Living in Bangkok

Feel free to contact me at tessadekkerfotografie@gmail.com for questions about Bangkok or my photography!

After traveling through Cambodia and Vietnam, my boyfriend and I moved to Bangkok. I stopped making photo's a year ago, I started to dislike it when I was doing my thesis. Now I'm in Bangkok, jobless but (thanks to two very nice people) not homeless. Free time gave me inspiration to start making photo's again. I'll keep you posted on this blog.

I'm working on my first English camp! This is the third and last day. It's probably the easiest camp ever because I only have to work from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the rest of the day I can just sit down and relax, work on my portfolio and the brochure I'm making for Eve. The work we do is more entertainment than education. The kids in this camp are all foreigners so they speak just as good or better English than I do. I'm involved in all the games because there's only three of us. My team colour is orange (of course), I'm Dutch and a ginger. ;) I've got 16 kids in my team, they're very competitive. Yesterday they might have been a bit too competitive. We were playing treasure-hunt, so the kids run from place to place to find envelopes with clues for the next hidden envelope. In my team somebody lost one of the clues, so they couldn't find the next envelope. This of course ended in tears for the girl who got the blame. It worked out alright, but orange obviously lost... We'll see if we can win our points back tonight, this is the last possibility to gain points!Because there's not much to do during the day, I've had some time to sort out the pictures on this computer. I made a few traveling series and found some portraits. You'll find them if you click on this link: 12.08.11

Niels and me are going to leave for another English camp tomorrow. This time it's a proper one; Thai kids, 4 days, 10 hours for the first day, 6 hours on the other 3. I hope we'll like it! I think it's a good start if we are really going to teach English or kindergarten.
I hope my photography will be the real money-maker though. Eve's catalogue is finished, if you want to see the photo's click here.

Yesterday I took photo's at a networking event that another friend organizes. It was hard, because the lightning was not very good and my camera couldn't really handle it, but I got some ok pictures: 12.13.11

Yes, the girl in the picture IS miss Universe 2005, Natalie Glebova! Sure, I didn't know first, but still, I've got the pictures with her on stage with Joe Labero! Two famous people in one shot, that never happened to me before ;)

English Camps were fun, but tiring! Fast money and very cute kids, so it was worth it. Niels and I celebrated Christmas with a lot of beer. Bart-Jan, a friend from Holland is In Bangkok right now, so I had Christmas dinner with him and some other friends of his who live here too. I had to do a photo shoot on the 24th and the 25th (at 9 am) so I didn't party as much as Niels did.
The Kindergartens and Language Centers did not really reply my e-mails, I hope its because of Christmas and not because my resume is that bad..

I started my new project; Lumphini. I had this idea in mind for a while and now I finally started. I run two times a week to Lumphini Park, in the morning or when the sun sets. Lumphini is one of the reasons why I love Bangkok. Aerobics, dancing, running, stretching, yoga everything you can think of happens in Lumphini. All day, every day. I'm going to try to make a documentary about this amazing park.
